About author
Xavier COLIN is Professor at Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology (ENSAM), Paris, France since September 2011.He defended his PhD thesis in 2000 in the specialty “Mechanics and Materials” at ENSAM, Paris, France, and he obtained the highest honors distinction with the jury’s congratulations. After a post-doctoral internship at CEA, Grenoble, France, he joined in 2002 as Research Engineer then Professor Assistant the team of Pr. J. Verdu at ENSAM, Paris, France. He obtained the HDR thesis (required for a full Professor position in France) in 2008 in the specialty “Chemistry” at UPMC, Paris, France on the theme: “Towards a model for predicting the lifetime of polymer structures in their use conditions”.His research interests include ageing and durability of polymers and organic matrix composites; multiscale and multi-techniques analysis of physical and chemical ageing processes; influence of additives such as antioxidants and mineral fillers; consequences on functional properties; kinetic analysis and modeling; development of structure/property relationships; and proposal of structural end-of-life criteria for lifetime prediction. He has supervised more than 28 PhD theses and 31 master theses. He is author of 1 book, 17 chapters in edited books, more than 117 articles in refereed journals, and more than 236 communications in conferences including 49 invited lectures. He is member of the executive board of Polymer Degradation Discussion Group (a subgroup of RSC Macro Group UK) and several editorial boards such as: Polymer Degradation and Stability (edited by Elsevier); Journal of Vinyl and Additive Technology (edited by Wiley); Journal of Composites Science (edited by MDPI); Polymeric & Composite Materials section of Frontiers in Materials (edited by Frontiers Media S.A.); and Matériaux & Techniques (edited by EDP Sciences).
